My exploration of creative letterforms through phonetic 3D design and procedural materials

‘Let’s Make Things Crystal Clear’ is an experimental poster design which I produced using Blender, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. I was eager to apply a glass dispersion material to 3D type and explore the possibilities of transparent textures in design.

Inspired by the multitude of creative submissions for the yearly open project ’36 Days of Type’, this design is my personal, illustrative rendition of the letter ‘g’. The design is based off of the corresponding word for ‘g’ in the phonetic alphabet: golf.
(This design was not officially submitted due to ’36 Days of Type’, as of 2024, being put on an indefinite hiatus.)

This design was a personal project but, it was also submitted as part of third year portfolio. It was an opportunity for me to incorporate trending design elements, which I had discovered, such as balloon/inflatable text.
